They don't go back to the beginning of the borough library, but they've been taking comfort from the small piece of Americana for many years and still drop in a few times a week. "I used to get piles of books by category, history, biography, …

Billy Cowsill teaming up with Jeff Hatcher, Elmar Spanier and JB Johnson to create “the Band that Scared Nashville”. The Blue Shadows put out two records in Canada during the new Country frenzy of the early 90′s. They were neither “New” nor truly “Country” and subsequently fell between the cracks. One of the great things about this group was its live performance. This video documents one of the very first shows they gave under the Blue Shadows moniker. While the tape is grainy and the sound iffy; you can still hear the magic of Billy’s uncanny voice, the fluid 12 string work of Hatcher backed by a seriously propulsive rhythm section. Cowsill was not a prolific writer but with Hatcher’s encouragement Billy finished a few great songs. “Paper and a Promise” is one of them. Billy passed away February 17th 2006. Important note: I understand that the copyright of this material belongs to the authors of the song; it is my intention to inform viewers of the fine work this band produced not to infringe on anyone’s rights. The Blue Shadows record “Lucky to Me” is OOP (out of production)
